V-Twin Electric Engine I Dreamed of as a Kid

Crazy idea, I know…

When I was in elementary school, I dreamed of an electric motor that worked like a real engine.
Not a smooth, efficient rotary motor —
but a reciprocating V-twin, inspired by Harley-Davidson.
Instead of combustion, this concept uses electromagnetic force.
Iron pistons move up and down inside each cylinder.
At the top and bottom dead center, mechanical switches reverse the polarity of the coils — just like ignition timing in a gasoline engine.
The pistons drive a heavy crankshaft, creating an uneven rhythm and vibration.
Efficiency was never the goal.
The goal was pulse, mechanical drama, and feeling.
Modern electric bikes are silent and perfect.
But what if an electric motor could still beat, shake, and breathe like an engine?

This sketch is a revival of a childhood idea —
where engineering meets romance.

…but would anyone actually try to build this?
